There’s Nothing New Come to me/here from there Bend your ear/if you care Man is bad/man is good I'd say more/if I could It's not new/what I speak But you'll find/if you seek It's all been said and it's all been done There's nothing new under the sun Nothing new under the sun Since the world/came to be Man has tried/to be free He has failed/all through time As he walks/down the line He must rule/that's his way Be in charge/come what may With his hands and/rule of the gun There's nothing new under the sun No, no, nothing new under the sun Nothing new under the sun There’s nothing new under the sun There's only one There's only one Nothing new under the sun There's only one There's only one Under the sun, under the sun Sold your soul/for hot cash But it's spent/in a flash What's there left/as night falls As your past/starts to call You can change/it's not late See the light/change your fate So much got lost/more can be won There's nothing new under the sun Nothing new under the sun No, nothing new under the sun There’s nothing new under the sun No, no, there’s nothing new No, no, there’s nothing new No, no, there’s nothing new No, no, there’s nothing new No, no, there’s nothing new No, no, there’s nothing new No, no, there’s nothing new So much got lost/more can be won There’s nothing new under the sun There’s nothing new under the sun Paul Robert Thomas

Don’t Kick Me When I’m Down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down When I’m down Sometimes I don’t care what people think Sometimes they try to kick up a stink Kicking up all the old dirt Kicking up all the old pain and hurt But what you do makes me frown Please don’t kick me when I’m down No, don’t kick me when I’m down I left Mary a long time ago The sun went down on us both you know I just couldn’t play that game no more Now she’s back knocking at the door I won’t repent I won’t let her in She could never forgive all my sins I never ever meant to be bad Until it’s gone you don’t know what you had Don’t spread my name all over town Please don’t kick me when I’m down When I’m down I knew someone else from up north From somewhere near the Firth of Forth She was a Pagan in every sense The atmosphere with her was always tense I knew her sister for a while But she would spit and had no style She left me with a shake of her fist And with a great big Glasgow kiss I’ll go down without a sound Please don’t kick me when I’m down No, don’t kick me when I’m down Please don’t kick me when I’m down No, don’t kick me when I’m down But what you do makes me frown Please don’t kick me when I’m down No, don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Don’t kick me when I’m down Paul Robert Thomas

A Mile Until Dawn Lyrics Take off your dirty halo Your broken wings too Stoke up the volcano I got something to say to you I got something to say to you Your hat’s full of confetti Red poppies on the graves Reading the tombstone graffiti Fading from another age From another age There is no time to mourn We’ve got a mile until dawn There’s Ravens in the cornfield There’s gamblers on the streets Looking for a good deal To help them fall on their feet Getting fat on big words Swallowing all they say But they’ve been misheard On this Memorial Day No refuge from the storm And still a mile until dawn A mile until dawn A mile until dawn Running over rooftops A faked crash scene below Baiting the riot cops Who sold out long ago Nuns seeking asylum Truth’s in short supply Prison inmates smiling Wearing that old school tie That old school tie So many still to warn Only a mile until dawn So many still to warn Only a mile until dawn So many still to warn Only a mile until dawn So many still to warn Only a mile until dawn Take off your dirty halo Your broken wings too Stoke up the volcano I got something to say to you I got something to say to you Your hat’s full of confetti Red poppies on the graves Reading the tombstone graffiti Fading from another age There is no time to mourn We’ve got a mile until dawn We’ve got a mile until dawn We’ve got a mile until dawn A mile until dawn Paul Robert Thomas

A Thousand Eyes Vultures around my head Feed off things I once said Things that I didn’t mean Getting fat on big words That maybe they’ve misheard That were never meant to be said How much more can I take? How much more can I fake? In this world full of lies Keeping my voice low Everywhere I go The night has a thousand eyes The night has a thousand eyes All this banality My friend Dorothy Is such a waste of time Can’t change their point of view You know that it’s true Choke on stale bread and wine The world is my oyster It seems to spin faster But something inside has died A thousand eyes A thousand eyes A thousand eyes Love is a four letter word That is often misheard Love is a four letter word That is often misheard Or is better left unsaid I see empty people Praying to the steeple Of the living dead There’s no one here to lead No one we can believe Everyone’s in disguise A thousand eyes A thousand eyes Got an ache in my tooth From telling all this truth The night’s got a thousand eyes The night’s got a thousand eyes Paul Robert Thomas

You Just Kiss & Tell You spread my name all over town Like it’s butter on your toast My spirit sticks in your throat Like some demented ghost You once were my baby Do you remember the time You know we had something I was yours and you were mine And you were mine I’m such a fool For ever loving anyone The way I loved you Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell Kiss and tell, kiss and tell I told you secrets of my heart When the push came to the shove You threw them back in my face What’s this four letter word love You once were my baby Do you remember the time You know we had something I was yours and you were mine I was yours and you were mine I’m such a fool For ever loving anyone I was yours and you were mine I was yours and you were mine Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell I’m such a fool For ever loving anyone I was yours and you were mine I was yours and you were mine Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell Kiss and tell You kiss and tell on me You must be very lonely But poor Little Missie You’re barking up the wrong tree It’s water off a ducks back to me I’ve gone on to some other place But you’re still stuck in the groove The music don’t sound the same Time to flap your wings and move You once were my baby Do you remember that time You really know we had something I was yours and you were mine I’m such a fool For ever loving anyone The way I loved you The way I loved you Now, well, well, well How you love to kiss and tell How you love to kiss and tell How you love to kiss and tell How you love to kiss and tell How you love to kiss and tell Paul Robert Thomas

I Knew You Once I knew you once I knew you once, not long ago Maybe it was, I don’t know Just a spark of you remains But that spark’s what drives me insane You went through my universe like a shooting star You sped on past my window like a souped up car You were too slick to hold, too fast to see All that remains is your memory I just can’t get you out of my head Can’t get you out of my head I wish that this memory was dead I’ve got it all, I don’t need you Why do you haunt me like you do You were so good were so bad You’re the best thing that I ever had I look for you wherever I may wander to Who are you with now holding them so close to you Do they care who you are, or do they see? As your fire eats them completely I just can’t get you out of my head Can’t get you out of my head I wish that this memory was dead I knew you once, not long ago Maybe it was, I don’t know Just a spark of you remains But that spark’s what drives me insane You went through my universe like a shooting star You sped on past my window like a souped up car You were too slick to hold, too fast to see All that remains is your memory Your memory Your memory Your memory I knew you once, not long ago Maybe it was, I don’t know Just a spark of you remains But that spark’s what drives me insane You went through my universe like a shooting star You sped on past my window like a souped up car I just can’t get you out of my head Can’t get you out of my head I wish that this memory was dead Paul Robert Thomas

Anna Frank 04:42
Anna Frank Anna Frank is gone But her spirit lives on and on Like an Angel sent from above Was so full of hope and love Sent to earth to show the way She always smiled come what may Told Kitty and us secrets of her heart They were friends for life and never would part Through 2 years together they would stay They’d be side by side till her dying day Anna Frank is gone But her spirit lives on and on She first wrote as a child, 13 to the day Much more than a child, wiser in many ways She wrote from deep within, from inside her soul Her words rang so true, to inform and console I been to her house, I been in her room Hid behind the bookcase like a tomb Storm clouds and thunder blew in from the East Anna longed for the day of sunshine and peace Anna Frank is gone But her spirit lives on and on You were the small sister that I never had When I heard you had gone I felt so sad They caged your body but not your soul But the hunger and disease took its toil You are the reason that I am here And all the others who perished there No-one can repay the debt we feel No-one can make the scars inside heal If words have wings and forever fly I know Anna’s watching above from the skies If words have wings and forever fly I know Anna’s watching above from the skies Anna Frank is gone But her spirit lives on and on Anna Frank is gone But her spirit lives on and on Anna Frank is gone But her spirit lives on and on Paul Robert Thomas

We Were All Born To Die Mama you’re calling, I won’t ask you why Mama you’re calling, I won’t ask you why Oh Mama don’t ya sigh, we were all born to die I’m way down on the floor, I’m crawling for the door I don’t want any more, what did I come here for? I’ve no place left to hide, I’ve kept too much inside I feel so all alone, So far away from home Mama I’m falling, like the stars fall from the sky Mama I’m falling, like the stars fall from the sky But Mama it ain’t no lie, we were all born to die I tried to do my best, I’m not like all the rest I tried to keep the rules, was treated like a fool I been hurt & abused, exploited & misused So tired of this war, can’t take it any more Mama I’m falling, cause I reached up too high Mama I’m falling, cause I reached up too high But Mama don’t ya cry, we were all born to die I tried hard to be good, I gave them all I could But they just took it all, they don’t care if I fall I feel so much sorrow, I have no tomorrow There’s so much confusion, all is just illusion Mama you’re calling, I’ll just say goodbye Mama you’re calling, I’ll just say goodbye Oh Mama don’t ask why, we were all born to die Paul Robert Thomas

No Use Crying Over Spilt Milk There's one in the chamber So look out coz there's danger Making sure you are protected Don't wanna become Another one on the run Another one who finds themselves infected You really took her in And she fell right for your spin Maybe that's the way it's meant to be When all is said and done Sure did have your fun And moved along your own ways separately It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done Crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk Beware coz there's always danger When you're with a stranger Who knows where anybody's been A tiller of the land Must protect his hands Wears gloves to keep his fingers clean It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done Satisfaction guaranteed When it comes to fill your needs But what will be the price you pay? You can call it a 'cover up' But at least the sun will come up On each and other brand new day It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done Once you're done Once you're done Once you're done Once you're done Once you're done It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done It's no use crying over spilt milk Crying over spilt milk It's no use crying over spilt milk Once you're done Paul Robert Thomas

Left Me Feeling Cold You just left me feeling cold You just left me feeling cold I remember that time Like a page torn from a book It's imprinted in my mind But it fades each time I look Never would I expect How it would all fall apart You were the best I’d met Till I felt your cold heart Though I wouldn't say I needed you to stay Even though I needed someone to hold When you were gone I can't say you did wrong You just left me feeling cold We sat down by the sea Silhouettes at the bar Only you and me And the silence of the stars I felt safe and warm Till you left me and walked away A lull before the storm Rolling in over the bay Though I wondered why You never said goodbye Did you care that you wounded my soul? I felt no pain Though it hurted again You just left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold I felt no pain Though it hurted again You just left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold You left me feeling cold Paul Robert Thomas

about

A Mile Until Dawn by ‘Les Paul’s’ (The Paul’s)

Just like day follows night, on (A Mile Until) Dawn the idea was to start the album off as it had finished on Night (Worker) with a fast driving Rock song. On Night it was ‘Down, Down, Down’ on Dawn it was ‘There’s Nothing New Under The Sun’ and I guess we tried to include all that passes for living on the album for as we know from Ecclesiastes 1:9, really, ‘There is Nothing New (Under The Sun)’!
On the album you have songs of abandonment (Left Me Feeling Cold), being betrayed (You Just Kiss And Tell), all the confusion, disillusionment and deceit in today’s world (A Thousand Eyes) to sadness, missing and death (Anna Frank), of ex lovers you can’t forget (I Knew You Once), to the almost comical tongue-in-cheek humour (Don’t Kick Me When I’m Down), for even in the darkness there might be light, must be some humour. In this world we bear the consequences of unprotected sex (No Use Crying Over Spilt Milk) to the realization that no matter what we do as ‘We Were All Born To Die’. Tracks 5 & 9 deal with a subject that is always with us, sadly always was and will always be and that is child abuse where in the song(s) the child victim, now an adult confronts his/her abuser.

A short synopsis of the album’s songs:-
1. ‘There’s Nothing New’ is a hard driving pop rock song reminding us all that it has all been said and has all been done before.

2. ‘Don’t Kick Me When I’m Down’ is a humorous tongue-in-cheek rock song in the style of Status Quo about asking not to be kicked when already down.

3. ‘A Mile Until Dawn’ is the album’s title track and is a rock song in the style of U2 about trying to make it through in the face of adversity to the dawn of a new day.

4. ‘A Thousand Eyes’ is about looking around and seeing all the confusion, disillusionment and deceit in today’s world.

5. ‘You Screwed Me Up’ was recorded as a ‘Radio Friendly’ version of the last track on the album ‘You F-cked Me Up’ that obviously, because of the ‘profane language’, was unlikely to get a lot of radio play. It is a different, less intense version but the message is the same as the meaning as track 9.

6. ‘You Just Kiss And Tell’ is about an ex-lover spreading their former lover’s name and romantic/sexual secrets all over town, maybe even in the newspapers – to recount one's sexual exploits, especially to the media concerning a famous person, the expression was first used in 1695.

7. ‘I Knew You Once’ is about the memory of a tryst with a lover that he cannot forget and he cannot get the lover out of his mind.

8. ‘Anna Frank’ is about a little girl whose tragic plight touched the hearts of so many through her diary that she referred to as ‘Dear Kitty’ that she kept from the age of 13 until her death at the age of 15 at Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp. Anne’s short life identified her as a single representative of the millions of people who suffered and died as she did because of her religion.

9. ‘You F-cked Me Up’ is a Hard Rock song about an abused child finally confronting their abuser as an adult through this song, it is very intense and emotional and hopefully will impact on the listener the pain and suffering endured for the rest of their lives by the child victims of sexual abuse.

10. ‘We Were All Born To Die’ is a simple but obvious statement that indeed, as we have witnessed with some of our media idols, that no matter who or what you are, you too will one day die.

11. ‘No Use Crying Over Spilt Milk’ is a song advocating safe sex to avoid the unpleasant and sometimes fatal consequences of unprotected sex.

12. ‘Left Me Feeling Cold’ is about a holiday romance where the lover suddenly departs without warning leaving him feeling cold and abandoned.
