Scared of America

Scared of America
I’m scared of America
That Alpha Male
I’m scared of America
With that sting in it’s tail
I stepped on a compass
And found myself here
On a bus in Vegas
An American nightmare
I’m scared of America
It’s too big for me
I’m scared of America
Trapped in the ‘Land of The Free’
Corruption on Capitol Hill
Discrimination way down south
So many are ready to kill
You’d better not open your mouth
I’m scared of America
Moma's got a gun
I’m scared of America
And so has her son
Jesus was American
So Hollywood maintains
Maybe he was Mexican
That sneaked in on the train
Follow the American Dream
Do the John Wayne walk
Gotta have plenty of Greens
Coz here money talks, money talks, money talks
I’m scared of America
I know you couldn’t care less
Where would we be without you
America, God bless, America

Las Vegas Killed Elvis
05:11

Las Vegas Killed Elvis
Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis just left the building
Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Las Vegas
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
That’s for sure
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
I’ll tell you more
Las Vegas city of lights
Where day time becomes night
Where what’s wrong becomes right
Where visionaries lose their sight
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
The John’s they roll into town
And they leave like depressed clowns
With empty pockets and souls
And their wallets full of holes
Some think they’ve got a chance
That it’s an even dance
But the house is well backed
And the odds are well stacked
I don’t say ‘don’t go’
Go if you want to see an unbelievable show
You know everyone’s hooked on something or other
If you knew what your heroes were on you would shudder, shudder
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
That’s for sure
If you knew what your heroes were on ladies and gentlemen, you would shudder
Go find out more, go find out more
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
That’s for sure
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
I’ll tell you more
Las Vegas city of lights
Where day time becomes night
Where what’s wrong becomes right
Where visionaries lose their sight
Built on the American Dream
On plastic grass dyed so green
Built as a great desert isle
On lust and greed so vile
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
That’s for sure
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
I’ll tell you more
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
That’s for sure
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
I’ll tell you more
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
Las Vegas Killed Elvis
Built on the American Dream
On plastic grass dyed so green
Built as a great desert isle
On lust and greed so vile
Lust and greed so vile
Lust and greed so vile
Las Vegas Killed Elvis

New York City

New York City
New York City
Across the pond
Brunettes are blond
In New York City
The streets ain’t pretty
There’s tension in the air
Here, there and everywhere
In New York City
Nothing is pretty
In New York City
Everyone runs
Everyone has a gun
In New York City
No one has pity
You must look tough and strong
Coz the weak don’t last long
In New York City
You don’t show pity
In New York City
New York City
They’ll rob you blind
Take you from behind
In New York City
Life sure is tricky
It’s so hard to survive
You fight to stay alive
It’s so hard to survive
You fight to stay alive
In New York City
You’ve got to play tricky
In New York City
In New York City
In New York City
Ugly or pretty
Clean or shitty
Smooth or gritty
Stupid or witty
You’ll find it all
In New York City
You’ll find it all
In New York City
In New York City
Breath in the air
Taste the dark despair
In New York City
The air is shitty
Dust on the plastic rose
Powder’s left on your nose
In New York City
Everything’s shitty
In New York City
At night the streets
Pound with hip-hop beats
In New York City
Sidewalks are sticky
Blood and spit congregate
Next day all cleaned by eight
In New York City
Mouth and fingers sticky
In New York City
New York City
Ugly or pretty
Clean or shitty
Smooth or gritty
Stupid or witty
You’ll find it all
In New York City
In New York City
New York City
You’ll find it all
New York City
You’ll find it all
New York City

24/7 - She Rocks (My American Girl)
American girl, American baby
24/7 she rocks
American girl, 24/7
My baby rocks me all night long
She rocks me slow she rocks me strong
Sometimes the music stops but she carries on
I know what she does can’t be wrong!
From early in the morning till late at night
My American darling seems so right
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls
She rocks from her head right down to her toes!
She took this boy and turned him into a man
I can’t tell it all but I’m sure you’ll understand
The air was hot, the night was still
We found our freedom up on top of that hill
I’ve never had anyone do the moves you do
Oh baby you know that it’s so true
The way you move is outta sight
What you do feels oh so right!
From early in the morning till late at night
My American darling she seems so right
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls
She rocks from her head right down to her toes!
Yes she does, American girl
American girl, American girl,
New York, Los Angeles
24/7 she rocks
Ah she’s an American girl
24/7 she rocks
She’s an American girl
Okay we’ll dance just one more time
All the other boys can wait in line
Just tell me that I’m doing good
Coz you’re the best in the whole darned neighbourhood
But now I am yours and you are mine
Your loving sends tingles up and down my spine
So rock baby rock till you can’t rock no more
Rock baby rock you’re the one I want the one I adore
American girl, 24/7 she rocks
You’re my American girl, 24/7 she rocks, she rolls
Rock-n-rock-n-roll
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls, 24/7 she rolls
Come on everybody, rock n roll
Here she comes
My American girl
Here she comes
Here she goes baby
My baby rocks me all night long
She rocks me slow she rocks me strong
Sometimes the music stops but she carries on
I know what she does can’t be wrong!
From early in the morning till late at night
My American darling she seems so right
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls
She rocks from her head right down to her toes!
She took this boy and turned him into a man
I can’t tell it all but I’m sure you’ll understand
The air was hot, the night was still
We found our freedom up on top of that hill
On Blueberry Hill, yes we did
On Blueberry Hill, on top of that hill
Yes we did, American girl, freedom
From early in the morning till late at night
When the moon appears, till the morning light
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls
She rocks from her head right down to her toes!
24/7 she rocks, that American babe
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls
She rocks from her head right down to her toes!
24/7 she rocks, my American girl, 24/7 she rolls
My American girl, 24/7 she rocks, 24/ she rolls
She rocks from her head right down to her toes!
24/7 she rocks, 24/7 she rolls
24/7 she rocks, she rolls, 24/7 she rocks
24/7 she rocks, she rolls, American girl
American girl, 24/7 she rocks, American girl
24/7 she rolls, American girl
American girl, 24/7 she rocks,
24/7 she rocks!

Whiskey & Stitches

Whiskey and Stitches
Whiskey and stitches
Is what I am
Whiskey and stitches
Keep me together man
Whiskey and stitches
Burn me up inside
Without these whiskey and stitches
I would have long ago died
They call me ‘a gambler’
As I make the rounds
‘A cheating gambler’
As I go town to town
A stacked deck
Is from what I deal
With a stacked deck
I cheat and I steal
From Dodge to Sarita
Tombstone to Durango
In each there’s a senorita
Waiting for me to show
A blade, a Colt 45
And Jack Daniels is my friend
They help me stay alive
On them my life depends
I go town to town
I never feel at home
People put me down
Like to throw me a bone
Got too many scars
That can’t be healed
Been in too many bars
Got a raw deal
Whiskey and stitches
Burn me up inside
Without these whiskey and stitches
I would have long ago died
Living too long
Seen too many sights
Gotta stay strong
Through these hard days and nights
Whiskey and stitches
Burn me up inside
Without these whiskey and stitches
I would have long ago died
Will always be alone
Maybe it’s God’s will
If I die away from home
You can bury me on Boot Hill
Whiskey and stitches
Burn me up inside
Without these whiskey and stitches
I would have long ago died

Hollywood Town
05:07
|

Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town,
Hollywood Town,
Hollywood Town
As I walked the lonely streets at night
Dark and empty spaces
Passing empty faces
Starring vacant eyes frozen in fright
The streets aren't paved with gold
Like the soul of this town they are cold
For there are the homeless
Those that pass pretending, really, they couldn't care less
Still I wander
As I wonder
Why am I all alone
So far away from home
A stranger in this strange town
Confused by all the sounds
Still I wonder
As I wander
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town
Maybe I should return from where I came
Where everyone knows who I am
But I can't face that I've been playing a losing game
No one likes to lose
It's not an option I can choose, no, no
Still I wander
As I wonder
Why I’m all alone
So far away from home
A stranger in this strange town
Confused by all the sounds
Still I wonder
As I wander
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town
Still I wander
As I wonder
Why I am all alone
So far away from home
A stranger in a strange town
Confused by all the sounds
Still I wonder
As I wander
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town
Hollywood Town

Another Nashville Morning
I'm going down to Nashville, Tennessee
Was the home of Johnny 'C' and Bobby 'D'
I'm gonna make it there, yeah you'll see
I'll be the biggest star, yeah little ole me
Wand'ring down that old Country lane
Face kissed by the warm Tennessee rain
Hear that banjo picking through the mist
It's so faint it's easy to miss
Getting near to my Country pie
From the fields see that big skyline rise
Sling my guitar over my bare back
My feet slide quick over worn tracks
To the East dark clouds are forming
It's just another Nashville morning
Nashville make me a Country star
I'll buy a big pink Cadillac car
And some cowboy shark-skin boots and shades
I know that I can make the grade
Visit some of them Country bars
Sleep at night under those Southern stars
Pitch my tent outside some 'Execs' gates
Till the morning Heaven can wait
I'm going down to Nashville, Tennessee
Was the home of Johnny 'C' and Bobby 'D'
I'm gonna make it there, yeah you'll see
I'll be the biggest star, yeah little ole me
I know I can be a Country star
Playing my Takamine country guitar
My friends say ‘I’m better than sliced bread’
Their words are still ringing in my head
To the East dark clouds are forming
It's just another Nashville morning
Knocking on those big Country doors
From behind each one rejection roars
Fat men with fat cigar smiles so fake
Say "Can't have a slice of THIS cake!"
Nashville's just a cold concrete maze
Take me back to my town's smoky haze
Can't take no more smilin' assassins
Country roads take me home to warm kin
To the East dark clouds are forming
It's just another Nashville morning

Frank
04:44
|

Frank
Frank was raised in Brooklyn
From where he learned his skills
He moved down to Atlanta
Running a factory for pencils
He was always on the outside
No matter what he said or did
For his wealth he couldn’t hide
Resentment boiled up under the lid
He gave work to the poor
No matter what their age
Mary she worked on the shop floor
For a pittance of a wage
She was only thirteen
Her family needed her pay
She worked on the machines
For one dollar twenty a day
One day they found her dead
In the basement where she worked
Jim Conley the janitor said
I only found her and I raised the alert
Although it all pointed to him
Jim was not the one they named
The jury knew he’d lied to save his skin
It was Frank the Jew that they blamed
Though they had very little proof
They said that Frank had done the deed
The crowds jubilation hit the roof
When Frank’s fate was guaranteed
They sentenced him to the rope
But later changed it to life
Frank thought he had some hope
But the crowd were sharpening their knives
One day the lynch mob came
And snatched Frank out of jail
They put Frank into chains
And drove on the backwoods trial
Twenty eight men in the mob
A Judge, Governors, Sheriffs and Mayors
Frank was the only one that sobbed
For Frank no one said prayers
On an old oak tree Frank was hung
As the mob posed for pictures
In the Georgia wind he swung
Surrounded by the racist victors
They sold postcards of the hanging
For twenty five cents in the store
And pieces of the shirt he was wearing
And bits of the rope but they wanted more
Long after Frank had gone
And they’d put a lid on their hate
They granted Frank a pardon
Although it was way too late
Leo Frank was killed for being a Jew
From Dreyfus to Frank to the six million dead
Yes killed for being different than you
When will they stop hating and learn to love instead?
And learn to love instead?
When will they stop hating and learn to love instead?

Louisiana Prison Bound

Louisiana Prison Bound
Oh Lord, from the day I was born
From my Mother’s arms I was torn
I knew I was prison bound
I knew I was prison bound
Prison bound
It was just a matter of time
I was destined to walk the line
In that dark place in this Louisiana town
Prison bound, prison bound, prison bound
Oh Lord I’m prison bound
Prison bound, prison bound, prison bound
It’s the darkest place around
Oh Lord I’m prison bound
Prison bound , prison bound
It’s the darkest place around
Oh Lord, I tried to do what’s right
I tried to follow the light
But got lost along The Way
But got lost along The Way
Lost along The Way
Some say it’s really not fair
But now I really don’t care
What anyone has to say
I could never abide by the rules
Made by crooks for fools
To follow in a cold sweat
In a cold sweat
Soon I’ll be in chains
No-one will know my pain
Or hear my broken song of regret
My broken song of regret
Prison bound, prison bound, prison bound
Oh Lord I’m prison bound
Prison bound, prison bound, prison bound
I’ll be lost and won’t be found
The train’s coming down the tracks
I’ll be gone and won’t look back
Must take it on the chin
If I don’t see you again
Remember me when
The bells chime in the wind
I’m sorry for all that I’ve done
The battle could not be won
Oh Father forgive me my sins
Oh Father forgive me my sins
I’m prison bound

Standing On One Leg

Standing On One Leg
Standing on one leg
Tryna tell you how it is
Standing on one leg
Tryna tell you how it is
The water's gonna rise
Who'd ever thought it would go down like this?
It's hard to stay clean
When you're crawling through the mud
It's hard to stay clean
When you're crawling through the mud
The sky's falling down
Saviours all outta love
I could grow to love you
But maybe it's too late for that
Could grow to love you
But maybe it's too late for that
You'd better aim straight
When you're shooting rats
House is on fire
Streets are full of dust
House is on fire
Streets are full of dust
The sheriff's pointed badge
Is broken and full of rust
Go to Dawson City
Gonna dig and pan for gold
Go to Dawson City
Gonna dig and pan for gold
Might end up on Boot Hill
With more dust than I can hold
Jails are overcrowded
Can’t stem the tide
Jails are overcrowded
Can’t stem the tide
You’re just a number
Better forget about pride
"Take it like a man"
Is what they said to me
"Take it like a man"
Is what they said to me
I’d rather stay in jail
It's cheaper than being free
Walking down the road
With my fist deep in my mouth
Walking down the road
With my fist deep in my mouth
Was looking to find love
All the birds are flying south
Standing on one leg
Tryna tell you how it is
Standing on one leg
Tryna tell you how it is
The water's gonna rise
Who'd ever thought it would go down like this?
